- BigER has developed specific algorithms based on Artificial Intelligence, capable of exporting large volumes of information and facilitating the early detection of failures and inefficiencies in renewable generation plants.
- Atrebo, as a specialist in automation and digitization of assets and critical infrastructures, has contributed its extensive experience to the project, coordinated by the onTech Innovation cluster.
The BigER project has developed a predictive analysis system for renewable energy generation infrastructures, based on Bigdata algorithms and focused on photovoltaic and solar generation. Its implementation has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the University of Jaén and the companies Isotrol, Kaylon and Atrebo.
The onTech Innovation cluster coordinates this industrial research initiative, which is financed by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.
Thanks to the research carried out by the consortium, and with the development of specific algorithms based on Artificial Intelligence capable of exporting large volumes of information, the system facilitates the early detection of failures and inefficiencies in renewable generation plants, as well as an accurate analysis of the causes. In addition, the visualization of results has been designed so that asset managers can get the most out of their photovoltaic plants.
The predictive analysis of renewable energy generation infrastructure based on big data algorithms provides an innovative and efficient solution for renewable energy production, with accurate results that allow planning energy production in renewable energy infrastructures in advance, saving time and cost.
The predictive diagnostic techniques in which the project is framed are aimed at measuring the impact that an asset will have on an industrial facility in the medium and long term, contributing to the reduction of energy costs and capturing value through efficiency and sustainability. The system developed by BigER will help to obtain a better energy performance and a better use of available resources.
The BigER project includes in its scope the case of micro grids, which means going a step beyond the distributed generation model, by incorporating elements such as energy storage or demand management. In this sense, it has been analyzed how the loss of battery storage capacity affects the system due to the effect of aspects such as the passage of time or weather conditions.
In addition, thanks to the possibility of identifying in advance a change in the consumption pattern, it will be possible to determine the most appropriate actions to optimize the generation of energy with renewable sources.
Although BigER focuses on photovoltaic and concentrating solar power generation, it will also have applications in other renewable technologies such as eolic or mini-hydraulic.
It is an initiative funded by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism within the support program for AEIs to contribute to improving the competitiveness of Spanish industry, and with the support of the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
